Musings of the Day: Why the hell did I study Japanese

Just noticed the last update was when I left for Spain. Well, I'm back. Three months ago I think xD

Busy with studies.. I may or may not have told you before, but I switched from International Studies to Japanstudies. Same university though, so the system is pretty much the same - no colleges in January, fuck yeah. Midterms after six weeks and in two weeks (shit) I have my finals of the first semester. The pace.. is fast. Really fast. I knew it would be big business since it's university and all, but it's quite a lot to digest, especially since we have classes like history, philosophy and sociology as well. Oh and Area Studies. But nobody, neither form IS or JS, likes Area Studies. It's bullocks.

I guess I should be more optimistic. By the time Reika, who will be a judge at Animecon 2014 alongside Yaya Han, comes to The Netherlands at least I'll be able to explain in Japanese how I made my costume.. and Leiden is going to send their students to Japan by the end of the second year. The grammar isn't that hard, sociology is actually interesting and I've already had philosophy in high school. The kanji, however, I do not want to study. The target list for this semester is 220 kanji. But lah, I'm lazy. Think I recognize about 20. The amount I can actually write.. don't get me started.

Nishicon 2013

I don't have much to say about Nishicon as I have been stuck at my café all day. Although I can tell you the venue had a nice, big kitchen. Saturday was hell. There was only one restaurant; a big hall which we had to share with the venue bar and the karaoke. Needless to say it got so crowded the venue staff clearly underestimated it. So they passed their stress unto us. I apologize for all the rush on Saturday.

The Sunday however, went far better. Less people waiting in line for a seat, so more time to socialize with our guests. I like talking with the guests. They have interesting stories to tell, like experiences with other maid cafés, stories about their cosplay crafting, random childhood stories.. anything. Everyone has a story. And I like how the people at the dealer room smiled and waved at us whenever we entered the room. It probably had nothing to do with the fact that we were delivering apple pie and macarons.

So, PRISM talk. Jiyu and I are the owners of Monokuro, so we didn't have an opportunity to cosplay, with Kaoru working as a maid at our café. Anne, Ashley and Rox participated in the CFS, but they didn't win. Had to rewatch it on Youtube and I must say there were a lot of awesome costumes, which makes me glad I am not a judge. Anne and Kaoru did win at the CMV competition though. They filmed an MV for "Sayonara no Tsubasa" in collaboration with Timmie Ng. Pretty awesome for a first, so please give it a click below! :D

I can promise you we will have a lot more videos to show you in the future at our PRISM channel on Youtube.. stay tuned!

Oh and I'm trying reaaally hard not to show any WIP pictures, but I'm so excited for RWBY. We're gonna blow you away.

Bisous!
